What's the best sound card?? - Page 2

I am looking for a good sound card for both Gaming and Audio. I listen to a lot of music and watch a lot of movies, but unlike the OP I play a ton of games on my PC. Mainly FPS, like CS:S and BF2142 but also RTS like Company of Heroes. What sound card would do great for both audio and gaming? I find my onboard to be very disappointing. I am looking for something under $100, but my budget is flexible.

Looks good. I don't know anything about this card, though. What makes it good for a Home theater set up?
what makes a good home theater setup (in terms of sound) is first and foremost some really nice speakers which dont take up too much space.

I would honestly reccomend that you get a lappy, put all your music and video on it, and stick it on top of an entertainment center. that way, you can use 1/8in. cables to stream audio from your lappy directly into whatever amazing stereo you might be using. you can get S-Video adapters to run your vids to your TV.

thats my reccomendation. although maybe a hair expensive, its great quality.

Personally, i never like having all my music in the office, and having to change CD's 10k times a day on my stereo in the living room. I just plug my lappy into my stereo, and it works great.

just a thought hope that helps out.

if your willng to spend the extra money, get an X-FI. what they dont pack in music, they surely make up in gaming sound. you will definetely be happy with an X-fi because it fits both your needs. However, dont expect phenomenal audio. Expect really good, not phenomenal. GAMING SOUND< X-fi owns you. get one, and you will never frown again.
