EVGA 8800 GTX KO ACS3 Temperatures

Thread Starter
Hi, could you guys(girls?) give some insight as to safe/normal temperatures (idle and load) for the 8800 GTX?

This EVGA model is factory overclocked with their special ACS^3 cooling system.

I have been having some freezing issues within graphics intensive games and am trying to rule out if it is a GPU overheating problem. According to nTune & RivaTuner, temps for idle are mid 50's while temps for load are high 70s to low 80s. (Celcius)

You mean all three of you girls...

Nominal temperature is under 100C.
Throttle temperature is 110C.
Shutdown temperature is 130C.

Load temps of 70-80C is normal but it all varies depending on your case, airflow, ambient, and GPU.

Where do you come up with this mis-information?

100C is still considered safe but in most cases it won't reach it. EVGA would say if you hit 90-100C... then you may need a RMA. Just because you hit 80C, doesn't mean something is wrong with the card. It could just be hot room or bad airflow.

Nah, I didnt mean that if you reach 80+ your card is bad. I just said it would be good to stay under 80. You are right, the card will never reach 80+.
