Help me choose an CPU/MB combo

Thread Starter
Well i believe my main rig (See sig) has unfortuanally come to its final rest already. Not even one year old yet, and I believe the motherboard has gone.
So instead of getting a new motherboard I figured I'd move to a nice C2D setup.

I need help picking out a good motherboard and cpu setup.
I do a lot of multitasking, photo editing, encoding of music, and gaming.
I have a budget of $480 for a motherboard and cpu.
I cannot wait until July 22nd for this and also, I have no need for a super kickass Q6600 anyways as they don't overclock high without water and run hot.

I plan on purchasing an aftermarker h/s seperate from this budget.

So if you could please recommend a motherboard and cpu for around $480 I would really appreciate it. Also, what brands are good besides ASUS? I'm not too happy with them right now.

thanks,

Well since you don't want an ASUS, I guess you might want to get one of the new P35 chipsets.

CPU - C2D E6600

Mobo - Any of these that might fit your budget.

ok guys, im thinkin these two

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
MB: ABIT IP35 Pro

These two only come out to around $408 total.

While I have an active topic going, what is a good aftermarket heatsink I could use with this for some good overclocking?

THanks for the help so far guys
