Thanks for the help. I am far from in a pinch. I have a stack of dual core laptops coming for the task. The DVs will be sent via courier or fedex. Then I go to work I am just playing with a 1GB .dv file at the moment. The program so far that i have chosen to be the mule is SUPER. for those that dont know it here is a link
. The web page is crap but the program is the best I have seen so far. It is not an editor it is just a encoder. It takes any format and makes it any format. It gets a lot of use in my industry
. Took a 1gig file down to 53mb native res and 44,100khz audio. It did it in about 15-20 minutes. I am not certain what resolution they are going to hand me. It could be 1080p it could be something else. I also have to discuss what the client wants. I am sure he saw some neat little write up on the new h264 codec and that is what he wants. So that is what he will get. Luckily the property in atlanta who produced this is going to reip to dvd the DV files so that I can transfer them easier. I dont wan tot have to set up 5 DSRs, and install video software to rip the DV tapes to my hard drives. Given more time a FTP would be the best choice. Lets hope that all goes well and that the client is not a total idiot who expects more than he can get. like no compression to fit on 5 dvds lol
