Your input/suggestions please..

Hey all, I'm sure you get tired of 'which os' threads but I'm hoping I can pick your brains a little. In a nutshell, I'm interested to know whether you think Vista is suitable for me as my main OS, and if so which version?

Background

I currently use XP pro as my main OS, but I really want to start using Vista because I like the interface miles better (I find it a lot easier to read at higher res on a LCD for example). I also like the aero interface.. when I boot up with Vista, it feels like I have a new computer (which I have!). I guess on the whole, there are quite a few usability touches that I appreciate.

Drivers

...I think I have tracked down a driver for my wifi adaptor for 64bit vista (Linksys wusb54gs) and I see my graphic card has 64bit drivers too (and I assume my motherboard will have as well - asus p5b deluxe).

The only other hardware I use is stuff like usb drives, pen and external - so I guess I shouldn't really run into driver problems with Vista 64bit. Right?

Programs I use are:

Photoshop
Dreamweaver
WinSCP
Putty
Nero
Opera
Firefox
VLC (occasionally)
Word

Program wise, I'm guessing if it works on 32bit Vista it should work on 64bit Vista? Am I right in thinking Vista can run XP progs under emulation too? Or least most of them?

I don't play PC games at all.

So what do you think? Am I likely to run into problems with Vista bearing in mind what I use the system for? And if not, should I be ok with 64bit? Also, am I right in thinking 64bit will be the mainstream version one day? Given that all new processors seem to be 64bit? (If so kindof makes sense to go with it now).

Thanks for reading and thanks for your input! My gut feeling is I'll be ok, but just checking with you guys in case there's something I haven't thought of.

Cheers.

If you can find drivers to work under the 64bit version then it would be ok. However I don't think anything is coded for 64bit computing, only 32bit. (Don't take this to the bank, cause I'm not 100% sure!)

Maybe just get the 32bit version of Vista Premium and you'll be fine. The 64bit version might give you driver problems.

What kind of driver problems? Conflicts?

I think all my devices already have 64bit drivers...
