help..Laptop problem

Hello, i'm kinda new to this forum but i have a question for anybody that might know the answer. Recently i bought a dell latitude d520 and everything seems to be in order except for the fact that every time i try to start it the power lights come on and a blue light lights up (not sure what it is) then it powers down. No screen, no noise nothing just shuts back off. Does anyone know what might be the cause? thank you

Have you tried pulling the battery out and trying to run it straight from the power adapter? Sometimes the battery goes bad, and that is what my dad's dell did when it's battery quit. Of course, that is what it always did when his battery was dead.

One of your system components might have gone bad. [Processor, RAM, something like that.] That is my best guess. It wouldn't do that normally.
