Oh man I love this thread, Im getting a Q6600 next month, so seeing this chip suiciding at around 3.9ghz is awesome! Im wondering though, can your boards handle more FSB? I ask because you could drop your multiplier and up the FSB to try to squeeze more out of it. I saw an Asus P5k in windows at 3.8ghz with 8*475. It might be able to perform a bit better with the extra FSB. Just a thought.

Lol if you can do that with a A/C vent ... Wonder what I can do in winter with -35C ambient

I'm actually thinking of moving out there later this summer for work, maybe even further north.

AMD DAVE and HellScream are you guys water cooling the N/S and Volt Reg?
I was thinking of getting the Q6600 with a eVGA 680i with some GSkill 800..In the process of building a MOD Silverstone case with a BlackIce GTX120.2 and GTX 120.1 rads, with a D-Tek Fuzion for the Q6600 and DD block for the 8800GTX card. I am just wondering if I should water cool the N/S or Volt reg??
Thanks

P.S AMD DAve your P180 setup very nice...

Thanks for your compliments

I don't think it is necessary to W/C the NB or Vlot regs.

I just use the optional fan that came with my mobo for the Volt regs, and a 90mm fan to cool my RAM and NB.

As long as you have a fan cooling both, IMO W/C is overkill.

@Knitelife:

Dude... under 12sec and 4.0 GHz stable, very nice!!

What Vcore set in BIOS for 4.0+ GHz?

Now I just need to get a phase cooler.

Then yesterday while sitting at my desk I happened to look over at the A/C vent , then my radiator, back over to the vent, and my rad once again. Quickly realizing that the only logical thing to do would be to wedge my computer between my bed and the A/C vent, and crank up the Vcore to see what this chip was really capable of!!

At no point did I run orthos, and stability wasn't a concern. SuperPi 8m was as stable as I tried. I left the ram at 5/5/5/15 @ 2.175v the entire time but I'm sure I could have tightened the timings with more voltage, but didn't try playing around with them. So here we go...

3610 MHz @ 1.450v

3708 MHz @ 1.5125v

3807 MHz @ 1.575v - 1m

8m

3896 MHz @ 1.6125v

Sweet I broke into 12s!!

I wasn't willing to go any higher on Vcore and I couldn't get Clockgen to work so I couldn't hit 3900 MHz

So I'm back at 3200 MHz and dreaming of phase...

I have it set now at 1.54 in the bios. I pencil modded the vdroop so it stays pretty contant under load vs idle. It does heat up to a toasty -36C while folding 24/7.

I am considering getting an extreme version of the quad to see what I could do on the phase if I could go higher on the multi. I should have a new P35K deluxe motherboard on thursday from newegg to try out with the Q6600.
