My Cheap Summer Build - Page 2

Ah.. I see. Then the build you have listed is good ! And even a less expensive video card would suffice if it's light gaming. but the 8600 is good for bragging to your friends hahaha

In my opinion, Western Digital has the best quality: More quality=Longer Hard Drive life and Less Bad Sectors on hard drive

I have a very similar setup that I built for a second pc for my son.

X2 3600+ Brisbane
Biostar Tforce 550 se
2048 gigs G.Skill HK's
EVGA 7600 GT 256 meg
old IDE WD 200 gig HD (if buy a new one go sata2)
20x sata dvdrw
19" Hanns-G widescreen for $159

Its good for medium gaming for my son

i even have the same xclio psu as you do.

Its a huge step up from myi old 3200+ with 1 gig ram. My son plays NFSMW (med-high settings at 1440 x 900) and he plays WOW pretty much maxxed. He can play NWN maxxed also.

For the price its a solid rig, Better than light gaming, especially if you throw a 8600 gt in the mix
post #19 of 24
also for around $20 more you can get a 250 gig wd or seagate drive for triple the storage and more reliability.

The HZ's are great, but over kill. If I had it to do over i'd get some 667 mhz ram (333 mhz fsb is stock for them and at 3 ghz the brisbane will be 316 fsb, so underclocking even 667 ram unless you use a divider)

So then what RAM do you recommend? and have you hit 3 GHz?
