9550 SE vs X1050 - Page 2

"X1050 series

The integrated x1050 is ATI's lowest-budget option. It is based on the X600 and RV370. As this is not a separate chip, the x1050 must rely on the capabilities of the RAM and CPU in order to function, providing generally inferior graphics"

So it seems that this GPU is using shared memory and CPU. Any idea about 9550 SE regarding this?

And I think I will probably go with X1050 if 9550 SE is similar in this aspect.

And about OC-ing the card, I'm new to it, so any general tips for a newbie here? Or precautions to take to avoid sizzling the GPU on the first day?

Ok, I just bought X1050 (AGP, 128 MB, 64-bit) and got it in my box. And I need some help here:

1) Can anyone confirm if it is using shared memory? Because it seems to, based on the decreased amount of RAM. (It may be due to some error while I was tweaking with a RamDisk though.)

2) I noticed some artifacts while playing GE - does it mean that the card is unable to handle the graphics? (I have not OC it yet.)

3) Now, whenever I played Warcraft III, it crashed on me within 5 - 10 minutes (the screen just freezes; NumLock doesn't work). Where should I begin from in diagnosing this problem?

Id go for the 9550SE it can be modded to a 9600 from a bios flash if I remember correct, or was that for the regular 9550.
