And I don't see why the fact that Intel's competing CPU is $7 cheaper means that AMD is dead

AMD has very good CPUs, even right now, at different price points. The X2 3600+ reigns the budget area right now, and other X2's perform reasonably well compared to their counterpart Core 2 Duos (again, at stock of course).

For us overclockers, Core 2 Duo is RIGHT NOW the better choice. But again, as I stated, there is a lot of new stuff coming down from AMD in the next half year (and from Intel also of course...), and we'll have yet to see who is on top by the end of the year.
Thanks Chozart you responded to a lot of the nonsense and saved me time. Like the guy bragging about his Celeron D.

Anyhow at this point in time I wanted to stay with AM2 with hopes of dropping in a backwards compatible Phenom later this year. And if it turns out to be a bust ill switch back to Intel its not a big deal to me. I would rather fool around with this now and have hopes of a decent quad core down the road.

I doubt that a 3.3ghz x2 is gonna be a bottle neck for me for sometime. Anyway ill keep plugging away today but I have doubts about the true V-core but cant find the spot to measure it on this new baord design.

Good stuff what you're doing with that chip! Keep it up

You'll only have a bottleneck when you slap two 8800GTX's in that rig... otherwise, you should be fine
