Thread Starter
I have a old NEC NC-1100A dvd rw drive and i was trying to burn some files to a CD,I have vista 64bit and it installed the drivers for it.So i downloaded a free bruning program called DeepBurner and it says that the drive is busy or empty.I know that the CD is blank and everthing but it just wont read the disk,Also I tryed to burn the files with the vista buring program but i also say that there is no disk in the drive.I have had this DVD RW Drive for about 8 years now and it worked great just 3 monthes ago on my old xp rig.is there any place that i can download some new driver for it,I have tryed my best to find some but i have had not luck,I have also tryed HEC.com but there are no driver for it just a PDF file.

I think you need a compatible 64-bit Burning app, check nero.

If the built in buring software in Vista 64 is not working its probably a good bet your drive is shot. 8 years is a long time for an optical drive.

Vista's own software writes the info in a format that is readable only by vista rigs.

You can just copy/paste on the CD and then right click the drive and select write files.

Cheers!

I have to agree. You can probably rig something and make it work, however you have gotten ALLLL your money out of that burner. I'd invest in another one.

In any case it won't be a waste of money. Also burner have gone down significantly in price. Even external.

Ya but it was just working a few days ago when i was installing some of my games. Also i have tryed my new copy of nero 7 that i just got that said that it worked in vista and was good for 64bit and it crashes half way through the install and,Then when i whent to delete the files and try agean it crashed at the end of the unistall.and now i cant install it only fix it wich doesnt even istall the thing.I have also tryed to install 120% and it also crashed about half way.Should i just give up and install 32bit.That would suck i realy like 64bit its a lot faster.
