4x1gb With Asus P5N32-E SLi

Thread Starter
Are there any known issues with running 4x1gb OCZ 8500 on the Asus P5N32-E SLi? Before I go and spend all my money?

Cheers

Seems like with that board people only have issues with dominator RAM, but that board in general has had issues with PC28500, just read up on newegg the reviews.

Yeah, it would as 4 x 1gb would limit your FSB.

That was with previous Bios, I'm sure that the latest Bios has fixed what issues there were originally with the PC8500 RAM sticks!

2x 1gb is enough. I have 4gb but I do photo/video.

I have that same ram (just with heatpipes attached) they run fine with my Striker. Max on them is 1150mhz @ 5/5/5/15/2t timings... THERE are better cards that can go higher and tighter.

I read somewhere that 4GB of RAm on ANY board is no better than 2GB unless your running Vista or 64-bit XP.

Some video editing applications will use the extra 2 gb but its pretty much a waste of money on anything else.

Regarding PC2-8500 ram and this board, I;ve run the corsair c5-8500 and the ocz sli 8500 without issue (Both 2x 1 gb sets). The new 1102 bios increases ram compatibility and a buddy of mine from another forum was able to get a decent stable overclock out of his 4 gb on the same board with the newer bios.

If someone gave me 4 gb of ram I'd sell two of it and buy something useful.
