Actually it's more like you are taking away my right to criticize other people's decisions publicly.
The reason that the iPhone irritates me so much is because it seems that most people are buying an iPhone just so they have one
. For some reason Apple has managed to create this rabid fervor in their fanbase that causes otherwise normal people to lose all rational thought and buy things just because they are new and have a picture of an apple on them, rather than based on whether they actually need
This is very much similar to the "git a see tooh dee" fervor that swept across the internet months ago, with over-competitive nerd-junkies across the web began to hawk stereos, digital cameras, and in some case even their beloved pets just to buy a processor that while faster would make no real change in their lives.
For the record, if I had $500 of completely expendable income, then I probably would go buy an iPhone just as soon as I could just to play with. Unfortunately, I have actually seen people say that they've applied for a new credit card just to buy an iPhone

I can tell you that is one product Apple doesn't want to see you pick up.
I don't hate the iPhone itself, I hate the ridiculous hype that surrounds it. The press is calling it the most anticipated product in history, I call it the most over-hyped product in history.
