Save the long-winded post. This is not an opinion: this is your open bashing of anyone who buys Apple products.

Actually, it pretty much boils down to: Who gave you the right to criticize anyone's decision on how they spend the money they have? Nobody.

So why do it?

QFT. I own an iBook SE and a Mac mini in my theater room.

When people go into debt buying things they really don't need, I have every right to criticize them, and if you ask anyone who is even remotely succesful they will agree with that viewpoint 100%.

Please don't get so offended by my posts, this is a discussion thread and I am stating my opinion. Just because you disagree with my opinion does not qualify it as "bashing". Bashing is when you repeatedly criticize something without providing any justification for that criticism. I have provided justification for my opinions.

Also wanted to point this out... the iPhone can get software updates through iTunes, so if a feature is not yet implemented, it soon will be, as Jobs has said "If it doesn't have it now, it will"

The reason that the iPhone irritates me so much is because it seems that most people are buying an iPhone just so they have one. For some reason Apple has managed to create this rabid fervor in their fanbase that causes otherwise normal people to lose all rational thought and buy things just because they are new and have a picture of an apple on them, rather than based on whether they actually need one.

This is very much similar to the "git a see tooh dee" fervor that swept across the internet months ago, with over-competitive nerd-junkies across the web began to hawk stereos, digital cameras, and in some case even their beloved pets just to buy a processor that while faster would make no real change in their lives.

For the record, if I had $500 of completely expendable income, then I probably would go buy an iPhone just as soon as I could just to play with. Unfortunately, I have actually seen people say that they've applied for a new credit card just to buy an iPhone. That is just sad. If you are that tight on cash perhaps you should be considering spending your money on something else more intelligent... say perhaps an iSavings account? I can tell you that is one product Apple doesn't want to see you pick up.

I don't hate the iPhone itself, I hate the ridiculous hype that surrounds it. The press is calling it the most anticipated product in history, I call it the most over-hyped product in history.

If George W. would have been successfully able to create this much hype about the Iraq war, we all would have been paddling across the Atlantic using inner tubes and inflatable kiddie pools.

But how is the IPhone any different than the newest pair of sneakers, the latest video game console, cabbage patch doll, tickle me elmo, etc. The list could go on forever. Does anyone here remember when a cabbage patch doll was sold for $10,000 just because it was THE Christmas gift that year? I think you could probably find one now for $5 at Salvation Army.

1) Calling someone an iSheep is condescending. Condescending posts are considered bashing.

2) No, you don't have a right to criticize anyone on their spending habits. You didn't make their money, you didn't loan them money, you are not a financial counselor. You're a person on Overclock.net criticizing people who don't care about how you spend your money.

3) You're also contradicting your original iSheep statement. You own Apple Hardware, yet, you aren't one of the Sheep?

Don't get it twisted: I'm not offended. The only thing Apple I own is OS X in a fancy box that hasn't even been opened. People justifying their own reasons on the blood of others is incorrect and should be stopped.

So you can't afford an iPhone and aren't willing to go into debt to get one. Good for you. Live and Let live.

Guys, seriously, I am VERY impressed with the iPhone, particularly its battery life... I just am amazed that it is such an event, that is all.

There is no need to accuse me of trolling.

An iSheep is a person who buys an Apple product simply for the sake of buying an Apple product, I bought my Apple products because I got a good deal on them and I needed them.

I do when they end up defaulting on their loans because of poor spending habits and ultimately costing myself and others money from their behavior. It works exactly the same way as auto insurance, and encouraging people to buy luxury items on credit is an all around bad idea for their own good and the good of our economy as a whole.

See above. If you are not an iSheep yourself there is really no reason for you to find the term offending.

You don't have any idea what my budget is. I agree with you on the live and let live thing... so let's just call a truce on our mini-flamewar here. I think apple is an innovative and productive company, and I just am fed up with the hype over this particular product, partially because my roommate is a rabid apple fan and I've heard nothing but iPhone for the last three months.

This is very true, I will not attempt to debate this. In fact the very you speak of effect was incredibly useful last year when I pre-ordered an xbox 360 and sold it on ebay for $500 profit, and I am sure that the people selling iPhones on ebay for $1200 right now are quite happy about it as well.

I personally won't be picking one up simply because of the cost. The markup from the production costs are simply too high it only costs them 50% of what they charge to make and you have to sign up for a mandatory contract.

I think they all get it. I heard somewhere that it takes about a half hour after you activate it before you can call on it.

As for me, I won't be picking one up because of the cost. $200 cheaper, and I would've been in line tonight to get one.
