Will the 8800GTS fit a MicroATX Mobo that is PCI-e Compliant? I heard that this thing is enormous

Welcome to Overclock.net! I moved your thread to a more appropriate area of the forum.

If the board supports PCI-E (8x or 16x) the card should fit. What motherboard did you have in mind?

Yes it should fit on your motherboard, if you're running a microcase that's another story...
As long the board layout is fine, yeah, the motherboard will not be the problem. Just check if there aren't any obstacles (northbridge cooler) behind the PCI-E slot.

However, an mATX case might give trouble. Those cards are like 9 (nine) inches or so, and in a small case, the hard drive(s) might get in the way. I have a case in which I barely can fit an X1900 in front of the hard drive. The parts fit, but plugging in the cables is nearly impossible.

Note that an mATX is as wide as a normal ATX board in many cases. ATX boards are just longer... that's all. An mATX board is 9.6 x 9.6 inches, while an ATX board is (usually) 12.0 x 9.6 inches.

Well I am about to upgrade my standard MicroATXmobo. The one I am buying http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...880&CatId=1533 is capable of Dual Channel memory and can hold a Core 2 Duo. So I am probably going to purchase the 8800GTS afterwards Here is the board tell me what you think any recommendations.

fitting on a motherboard and fitting in a case is totally different.

if your mobo has pcie 16x 99% of the time it will fit in your motherboard

now if you have a mini tower / micro tower case it fitting is a whole new story, with that you are pushing your luck, if you get lucky it will fit, but probably not

I highly recommend you move away from the mATX format.

You probably have a pretty weak PSU also, so you'll need to replace that anyways when getting the 8800GTS.

I would get this motherboard:
GIGABYTE GA-965P-DS3 (rev. 1.3) LGA 775 Intel P965 Express ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail $99.99 and free shipping.

That's $40 cheaper than the mATX board you picked.

Then, get an ATX case... you can either get dirt cheap, like this:
Rosewill R6422-P BK Black SGCC Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case $20.99 + $4.99 shipping

Or something a little better like a Coolermaster Centurion series case for $50 + shipping.

then when you pick up the 8800GTS, also invest in a new PSU (I'd say at least $100 for the PSU)

Note that it is NOT mATX. Again, I am suggesting you move away from the mATX format and get an ATX board/case.
