FreeDOS™ included in the box, ready to install [Included in Price]

Nice OS. Couldn't they at least give you Windows 95 with that?

It's a cheap Dell, so forget overclocking. No BIOS options at all, so the only way is by using software, and that's likely not to get great results.

a 20% overclock at the VERY best using software.... and possibly no overclock at all.

The custom rig I suggested likely overclocks pretty well... I'd say at least 2.7GHz on the X2 3600+ (a little more than 40% overclock), and with some luck over 3.0GHz. Those BIOSTAR mATX boards are pretty good overclockers.

Yes, the Dell is a nice deal for those who don't want to deal with building a computer. However, it isn't 'ready to use' since it lacks an OS (yeah right... freedos... and NOT installed even), so you will at least need enough computer knowledge to install your own OS. For those using Linux, I am pretty sure they're all pretty savvy computer users (why use Linux otherwise?).

If you're an enthusiast, and most folks here are, you build your own rig, or ask a friend to help you...

Time to build a rig? For me, the most time consuming part is installing the OS but ok, I have experience and now can do a full mobo swap between two rigs in just over half an hour. I agree that this is a good deal for those who want an (almost) ready-to-go box.

Warranty? All parts of the custom rig are covered with warranty... some parts even life time.
