When i read this thread i was first thinking the 6800 would own it but i looked thru hwbot and the 8500gt beats a 6800 ultra in nearly all benchmarks.

the 8500GT and 6800Ultra should run neck and neck untill AA and AF are applied at which point bye bye 8500. I dont know why everyone is suprised Geforce 6 is old these days, i mean its 2 generations old, so shouldnt the upper low end be about the same as 2 generations ago high end, rembmer 6800Ultra launched over 3 years ago.

I hope you are not serious. If you are, I am beyond words. Why don't you take a look at the benchmark link posted above?

Even "overclocking" the hell out of that 8500 doesn't seem to make a big difference. With the 6800's 16 pipelines and it being an old top of the line card vs. the 8500's, what is it 12 stream processors, and low range card, the 6800U will pull ahead.

without AA the 8500GT should keep up with the 6800 as long as its in a shader intense game

I vote 6800 all the way. I have an AGP 6800nu, but its unlocked 16 pipes with 128mb DDR. Fast card. Can max out FEAR. I dont think the 8500 can do that.

The 6800Ultra is a beast. Don't mistake it for an "old" card.
