6800ultra Extreme Vs 8500gt - Page 4

lol 6800Ultra is slower.. you may be asking yourself WHY!!!?.

It's because it can't open DX10 games, so run COH with DX10 patch installed with 6800Ultra.. O wait you can't run it so I would get the 8500

This review http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...item=695&num=1
shows the 8500gt being beaten by a 6600gt 128mb, under linux. If a 6600gt beats it, a 6800 ultra will run circles around it.

You just need to stop and think.

6800Ultra
DX9 (SM3)
16 Pipelines
256-bit GDDR3

vs

8500GT
DX10 (SM4)
16 stream processors (4 pipelines)
128-bit DDR2

Both are good cards, It's hard to say though.. 8500GT is not even in the same class as the 6800Ultra.

Exactly.....only reason to get the 8500 is for the DX10 support. But it performance comparison in DX9 gaming, i dont think that 8500 stands a chance up to a 6800U.

By reading that im getting that each pipeline contains 4 stream processors? In this sense, my GTS would have 24 pipelines while the GTX has 32 pipelines?

Am i understanding this correctly? Im still fairly new to this "stream processor" terminology, im used to the "pipelines". But iv been reading, i guess graphic cards are becoming more advanced then they used to be.
