mounting RAM fan

i've seen pictures of people with plain old case fans mounted on top of their ram. i am wondering what it would take to do that and what benefit it would bring? i usually see it when people are doing benchmarks for new products but i have seen it a couple times as a permanent part of a rig. i've got a couple extra fans lying around so i want to give this a try but i have no idea where to start

Not sure exactly how to go about it, but if you decent airflow in your case it's not really needed unless you are going for a high OC on RAM or it happens to be 100 degrees+ in your place.

It lets you use more voltage

like I cant use more than 2.2v without my ram fan but I can use 2.45 with it
