Overclock E6600 with Intel D975XBXLKR aka BadAxe

Thread Starter
Alright, I'm new here. I've spent about 2 hours searching through google about overclocking my Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 on my D975XBXLKR Motherboard. I have found that this motherboard's BIOS only allows E6700 and up to be overclocked using the BIOS, thus I have been lead here, seeking help from and some possible expert advice.

I have never overclocked a CPU by myself, only my 7900GTX Graphics Card, which is simple, and I've only helped with other P4's, which is different considering my issue here.

Can anyone tell me how I am to overclock my processor using the current motherboard, whether its moding the BIOS or using some random programs?

Thank you for your time and possible help!

I am very glad to help you as much as I can. Oh, thanks Nasgul for the plug

One quick and easy question, you have the XBX1, not the XBX2, correct. I am not familiar with overclocking the XBX1, as it truly wasn't designed for it, the 2nd generation, XBX2, was designed for overclocking. I know that the XBX1 is a very finicky and unique overclocker, as in instead of selecting a FSB, you select a % increase.

Get back to me whether your are 100% sure yours inst the X@. If you do have the X1, let me do some research and I'll get back to you. I'd research tonight, but I have a huge french test to study for and time is tight.

The exact name for this motherboard that I posess is = Intel D975XBXLKR Socket 775 Motherboard.

I am currently tryign to figure out what you mean by XBX1 and XBX2... I did not know there were 2 different types lol, just thought there were different revisions.

Maybe this will help?

I am not sure how else to answer your question...

Yeah, you have the older model, which was really honestly not designed for OCing.

Heres a review comparing both of them.

I have read on other forums of people overclocking their E6600 using this motherboard, whether it was BX1 or BX2 I do now know. This other site I found features a hardware mod... I believe its the Image # 3...
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...ad.php?t=99298

I really do not want to solder my mobo lol, so I am trying greatly to figure a way around it...

Any help as soon as you can is appreciated. I've gone since August last year I believe without OCing, I can go a few days. I also went through High School Exams (and College, don't know which you are doing) and they are stressful.

Take your time, your school is far more important than this lol.

I don't beleive any modification is necessary, at least on my MB it isnt. Mine is completely stock and is running 3.5Ghz at stock voltage.

Attachment 49277

Take 5 mins and fill in your computer's specs. To do this, click "USER CP" at the top middle of your screen. Then go to "add system"

Alright, good deal.

Now, what exactly is your bios like. Can you find any voltage adjustments? What about FSB % adjustments.

Time for bed for me though, I'll catch you later back in here tomorrow afternoon
