Just got my new system, Put it together, Turned it on, put in the windows cd. started loading but says it cant find any hard disk drives. It says to check the power to it, ive turned it off and checked the cords and everything is plugged fine but it tells me this everytime.
Is this harddrive fried or do I have to load motherboard drivers before windows?

Is your hard drive in Master or Slave?

Tell us what your looks like here.

Instructions of the pins that you currently have are also posted somewhere on your hard drive to tell you if it's Master, Slave, Master without slave.

That's a hard drive than a board. And IDE or SATA hard drive have that same thing that is circled on the picture. With the wrong connector to the pins, your hard drive may not be detected.

It is a SATA. It has the wide, thin power cable plugged it on the left size of the harddrive and the other cable plugged from the motherboard to the back of the harddrive. What else?

You're not following what I am trying to ask you to do. Look at the picture above, the circle is what I am trying to make you see. Varying on the connector to the pins, it can mean a lot of things. I am trying to ask you to check what your is positioning in and what your hard drive says about it.

For example:

Is the cable plugged in SATA 1? Check to see if you have a SATA 0 and use that. This shouldn't matter but on my current ASUS board it did.

And TaiDinh, I didn't think SATA drives had jumpers.

Tai sata drives don't have jumpers, they're sorted according to which sata plug they're in

If it has jumpers take them off, you don't need them, and this should put it in "neutral"

Also take off any overclock you have, my mobo stops detecting the sata port when i clock too high, maybe you've got the same problem
