Does my laptop have a 64 bit processor?

Thread Starter
I currently have [ THIS ] laptop. I was running TuneUp Utilities 2007 and in the system advisor, it said that my computer has a 64-bit processor but my current windows version is only using 32 of the available 64 bits and that upgrading to a 64-bit operating system would increase performace.

1. Is this true?
2. Should I upgrade to a 64-bit version of Vista?
3. Will it have any "issues" such as shortened battery life?

Yep. You got a T7100, which I believe is a 1.8 C2D Merom processor.

Upgrading to Vista 64-bit wouldn't necessarily boost performance, but it will surely make use of your processor, which was designed to be able to run 64-bit software.

The problem, though, is that as new as Vista is, it still has much updates in order, just like XP needed a lot of patches and all before you could call it "well-established", meaning it was compatible with virtually everything.

Vista, unfortunately, isn't quite there yet.

I wouldn't worry about it for now.
