e2160 ?

Thread Starter
Just wondering if anyone here has any hands on experience with the new low end/budget cpus from intel. How well do these things preform/oc, and how much does halfing the cache change the performance of the cpu.

Advice is very welcome , mainly deciding on which c2d to buy thats in my pricerange it will be e2160 or e4300, already leaning toward the 4300

I'd advise you go with the e2160 to save money. The fact that it has only 1mb of l2 cache doesn't affect it's performance by much. If at all, in benchmarks it trails the e4300 by a couple FPS(3-9). Here is a test you will find rather interesting. Link, go to the middle to see it's performance. Here is another becnhmark, you'll find that it stacks up to the e4300 quite well. For 25$ less than an e4300 you get very similiar results. Also, they are quite the oc'ers, they can do upwards from 2.8ghz on air, 1 guy at XS has his on 3Ghz on the stock hsf.

Tbh im suprised, performs very well even though intel cpus tend to be more dependent on cache, looks like ill be going with the e2160, will save some money for a better motherboard.
