First build, here goes nothing...

Alright here is the build I had in mind for my new (not to mention first ) build:

Before you continuing reading you should know that I plan to keep my:
Tower - ATX Aluminum Case, 3x120mm Case fans
HDD - Hitachi Deskstar 7200RPM, 120gig, ATA-100
DVD-ROM/CD-ROM - IDE x16

(Note: I would like to have an SLI ready mobo if you suggest something other than the one I have here)
Here it is:
XCLIO GOODPOWER 500W ATX 500W Power Supply<--EDIT*
ASUS M2N-SLI Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3600+ Brisbane 1.9GHz Socket AM2 Processor
ZALMAN 9700 LED 110mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler
G.SKILL 2GB (2 x 1GB)<--EDIT*
EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 320MB PCI Express x16

Currently at $738.95 w/ all rebates applied

Main Uses:
Heavy Gaming - Macromedia Studio - ZOMG***CLOXXING

It came out a bit more expensive than I would have liked it to be so if there is any costs I can cut feel free to point it out. CRITICISM is gladly accepted and I'm open to new ideas. (I'll even take Intels into consideration IF you convince me ). So there it is, if I think of anything else I should've added I'll get back to it.

sounds perfect to be completely honest.

the MOBO is the best one for AM2

the CPU is arguably the best for AM2

and i love my G.skill's. they get to 1100mhz like nothing

Looks like a decent starting rig. But I'm not sure about the PSU--I've heard here and there that Rosewill's are not very high quality--might want to do yourself a favor and get a better one. I have heard that the OCZ PSU's are decent, though possibly overpriced. Hopefully other people have recommendations.

What resolution/size monitor will you be using? If it's more than 20", I would recommend the 640mb 8800. But if 20" or lower, the 320 should be ample.

Looks like a great choice of components. Hopefully it OC's easily! Good luck.

Yeah, it's funny--no one had anything but bad things to say about the PSU I have in my sig rig, but it's probably the best one I've ever owned--or at least I'm pleasantly surprised with it anyway... Glad yours is fine--perhaps the Rosewill will be fine--how's yours for OC'ing? Is it okay? If so, then I'm sure it'll be fine for this guy. But it's always easiest to spot possible problem areas before a build rather than spending more money later.

Budget?
Antec 500W-Very stable, has dual 12v rails.
G.Skill RAM-Can do 900mhz, enough for a 3.6ghz+ oc
E2160-Performs very well, same as e4300 except half the l2 cache, performance gap is minimal plus oc's really high
Asus Motherboard- Great mobo, SLI ready, great oc'er

I read somewhere else that those $83.00 sticks were the NQ model and that the extra 20 for the HZs were well worth it

It's more than the one I have already picked out.

Budget less than $750
