e21x0-Allendale or conroe?

I am a bit confused. On the egg it lists the new e2140 and 2160 as having allendale cores, but In the tech review below it says that they are based on the conroe core. Either they are making two different chips with the same name or or someon is wrong.

Nice, but, no answer to the question. It's a Conroe core according to pretty much everywhere cept the egg, including ocers.co.uk...

I kinda thought it was a conroe, but Ive seen a lot of people here refer to it as an allendale. Is the egg the only place people get info? Anyone else know more?

the e2140/e2160 are allendale Pentiums... not core2duos. the lowest model for core2duo is the e4300.... get the e4300 cuz when oc'ed they have almost identical speeds to the e6300.

I'm getting an E2140 for my bench PC. 3.2ghz from 1.6ghz with only 1.35V? Amazing!

With CPU-Z they are listed as Conroe

The E2140 doesn't reach 3.2ghz.

By increasing the processor Vcore to 1.5V we could push the FSB frequency to 378MHz thus hitting 3.4GHz clock speed. The CPU was running stably at this speed and passed the ORTHOS stability check.

The second processor, Pentium E2140, didn’t overclock that well at all. In the same testing conditions, i.e. with 1.5V Vcore, we managed to increase its FSB frequency only to 355MHz. further increase led to system failing to boot. Further experiments revealed that this CPU can even work without Vcore adjustment at this FSB speed, which means we have hit the “FSB wall” for this processor. This problem wouldn’t let us continue our overclocking attempts, and we had to admit that the maximum result for this processor would be 2.84GHz, which doesn’t look that appealing at all especially against the background of the previous result.

Please don't tell me what things can or can't do. I've done my research and when I make a point, I can always back it up.

Thanks

Heh, you're a feisty one aren't you.

Sorry, I made a mistake, I hadn't seem them get over 3ghz on the sites I had been on and thought you had mistake it for a e2160.

Will you ever accept my apology?

Ok I thought they were using the same architecture so the only difference between say the 6300 and 2140 is speed and amount of cache. The internal structure is still the same right. I thought they just kept the name for this series , so it performs the same as a 4300 or 6300 would if it had the same amount of cache and worked at the same speed.

Oh and I have scene a couple of 100% OC's with the 2140 maybe not entirely stable but they could do it.
