coretemp just gives me an error and prime wont test all cores? well...it works all cores but its just spreading 1 over all 4 and using about 30% of the cpu

Use coretemp 0.94 for quads.

And run 4 instances of Pirme95 (or 2 of Orthos), and set the CPU affinity in Task Manager to each core, that way you'll get 100% load.

i succeeded in getting a 100% load in a couple of programs, top temp was 66c

part of my problem has got to be the fans, the fan controller i installed <is junk imo> its aerocool i think?

anyway, i dont have any of the temp sensors hooked up, i yanked them all, so the damn thing beeps and errors out, and the fan control is stuck on auto <for the life of me i cant adjust it> and since it auto adjusts fan voltage off of temp and temp isnt reading i think the fans are just kinda hovering around at 50%

so im going to find a diff fan controller <to help out some>

temps are reaching 66c max under load so, im not extremely worried, like im going to cook it out and fry it or anything, but it would be nice to get temps down, especially so i could OC

the sunbeam one use's a pci slot no? i have none left, cant use that :-(

One time my cpu was at 125C, but I think my sensor is broken because it didn't even restart.

my cpu coating? do you mean thermal paste? its AS5 and i got it from danger den about a month ago, no knowing how long its been on shelf there, and yeah the temps are a bit high, ultimately im pretty content with it, just no room for overclocking.

edit: just put side on, seeing +1c across the board, 37c-43c idle <case still hasnt heat saturated yet>

where can i dl ortho's or w/e is worth putting into load to check temps
as TaiDinh mentioned, quad cores can handle more than the norm....i would say no higher than 63-65C if you wanna be completely safe. seeing as you have a quad, you MAY be able to push it as high as 68C, but i WOULD NOT try it, for obvious safety reasons.
