What would you do?

I have set a budget for £500 (double all UK pounds to get price in US dollars) and I have two options:

I can get a 24" monitor for £450 plus 64bit Vista for £61

or,

I can get a 22" monitor for £239 plus a new cooler Big Typhoon £30 plus another 2GB of memory £58 plus Vista 64bit £61 plus a new digicam for £105.

I would love a 24" monitor! But it's almost double the price. I've spent out this year hence why I can't get the 24" plus all the other goodies right now.

Notes:

I don't really need the cooler right now and could get it in a few months time
I don't really need the extra memory, and again could get it in a few months
I don't really need the camera as I already have one (just fancied an ultra compact one)

In addition:

The 22" Monitor will be a TN panel.
So the 24" has these extra benefits:

S-PVA panel
better viewing angles
better dot pitch
better contrast
better screen size
8 bit panel as opposed to 6 bit
4 year swap out warranty

Downsides is it doesn't look as nice as the Sammy 226.

Oh dear, looks like I've answered my own question! But still interested in what you think!!

Buddy, if money is NOT an issue, I would say get the 24". If you REALLy want a great experience, that's where its at. Now, for gaming, it is wonderfull, perfect! very sharp, brightt. but for word processing, i dont think i could handle it, I may need to Split the screen in half or something.

Read this hERe. The dell Ultrasharp 2407 apparently is a very good monitor, or one of the samsungs in the 24" range.

Dont know how much you trust ebay, but some stores are ok. Check THIS ONE out, great feedback, great volume sales, and they look like experts in high def, high size monitors and processors.

EDIT: but keep in mind that size is NOTHING when paired with crappy quality. Unless you get a good brand (samsung, dell 2407 etc..) for the 24', please stick with the 22' proven model. UNLESS you have used a 24' model for a bit, you wont notice a difference.

Thanks Nevaziah - I am inclined to agree with you

All the other stuff I want can wait, it's not like I will make use of 4GB of ram right now, plus I am not a big OC'er and am happy to wait before delving into that.

I already ordered the Dell 2407! Got Dell UK to price match it at £450 They said delivery was on Monday, but apperntly they attempted to deliver at 11am today - but I was here!! Think they'll try again later (hopefully!)

Ah ok. I'm known by Mad Btw

If your not gaming then It should be fine

I was just worried because at that size the res would be 1920 x 1200 and the GPU would have to be much more powerfull...........but that would only be for gaming

Enjoy your new computer
