What PSU to use with a 8800GTX

Hello I just bought a new computer last week and finished building it last saturday but I've had problem with it, the problem being that the whole screen turn green or blue or gray or whichever other dominant color was displayed at the moment on the screen before it happenned, I know all connection are fine and the heat is probably not the problem since it did it while the case side were open in a room with the AC on max , either way, I tried to make it run with a x1800gt and everything was running smoothly so I've concluded that there must have been a problem with my BFG 8800GTX and sent it back to the store Monday. But now I just received a phone call from a friend working over there telling me that the problem might be caused by the PSU because it maybe doesnt have enough W for the 8800GTX or something and they want me to bring the whole case over there (which I will since I cant really do much with it anyway) but I was just wondering if you guys think that the PSU could be really the problem here? Here the full description of my computer

Case: Antec Performance One P180

Power Supply: Antec NeoHE550 ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817103941 )

Motherboard: ASUS P5N32-E SLI

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775

Video card: BFG Tech BFGR88768GTXOCE GeForce 8800GTX 768MB PCI-E 16x

Memory: OCZ Gold 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Hard Drive: Seagate Barracuda 320gb 7200RPM 16mb Cache SATA 3.0gb/s

I also use my old Pioneer 109 DVD burner. I did check the requirement for the 8800GTX and it said it needed a 450W PSU, mine is 550W so theoricaly it should be alright wouldn't it?
Thank you for your time.

The Antec NeoHE550 should be enough for a single 8800GTX. It delivers enough Watts and definately also enough Amps on the 12V rails (42A). Unless the PSU is failing, it should work just fine.

Did you make sure both PCI-E x16 power connectors were attached to the GTX?

I agree with Chozart. I have an antec smartpower 500W that I use for system testing and I've run an 8800gtx based setup for testing without issues.
