Hmm... useless benchmark, Intel. Thanks

Dual socket... how many people are actualy going to blow the money on 2 CPU's and 16 gigs of FD memory? Do some real world benches, techfreaks.

Haha, that has been my intention since I first heard of the 7/22 price cuts, I will most likely be upgrading to a q6600 as well. And I hope that will tide me over until early 09. Its an addiction of sorts, one that I rationalize by convincing myself I "need" the extra juice to tackle the small photoshoping and CAD design(just a novice atm) I work with. Nothing like hypocrisy to keep us honest.

No let intel get ****y, AMD still sells more budget chips than intel, AMD isnt hurting for money as long as Intel forgets taht there outdated netburst celerons/P4's cant touch the Smepron/Athlon64's in there price margins, and as long as the OEMs continue to buy Sempron.

But an antitrust case would imply that AMD completely vanished... not likely. Bankruptcy and/or a change of management is the most likely outcome and that might be the best thing for AMD the way they are headed. There have been rumors of IBM buying out AMD but if they had wanted to do that they would have already done so back when AMD stock prices were rock bottom(around $5-6 share price in late 02 early 03). I would like to see chartered and/or TSMC buyout or merge with AMD that would give them the manufacturing capacity and expertise they sorely lack. All the advancement we have seen from IBM, Sony ect ect the CPU market may see some new players in the coming years. Long story short, competition will remain.
AMD has great managment, they dont have the resources of Intel. Intel is just a massive company, though everytime i see one of there people i feel like hitting them square in the Jaw, i know it sounds odd, but i hate how Intel employees always wear that stupid smug look, id like to beat all of them to a fine pulp, but thats just me.

Intel controlled 80.2 percent of the global microprocessor market in the first quarter of 2007, up 4.5 percentage points from 75.7 percent in the fourth quarter of 2006, according to research firm iSuppli.
The numbers speak louder than random conjecture... Don't get me wrong I like amd, infact my old PC was powered by a sempron. That still does not change anything. AMD has lowered itself to ambiguous assertions and its supporters emotive language, both fallacious, and with the sole intent of staving off an even greater decline in stock price. They lost sight of what they were good at, and began to undertake netburst era intel tacts. So instead of "speaking softly and carrying a big stick" they are now relegated to obfuscation and name calling.

Sorry to the OP, the thread jacking was unintentional.

I think intel is sitting in tanks and AMD has water pistols right now.

With a market capitalization of about $7.9 billion, AMD in April posted a first-quarter net loss of $611 million, falling from a profit of $184.5 million in the same period a year ago.
HAH! First quarter of 2006 they had a profit of 185 MILLION. Not bad.
First quarter of '07... Net LOSS of 611 MILLION... ROFL...

AMD, I love you... but you are not even trying now...
