E6600 Idle Temps?

My idle temp is 22c. I just can't believe how cool these things run. I just wish I could overclock more then 2.71GHz.

What I don't understand is I have had my processor at 3.0GHz once. It ran fine and played games all day. Shut down the computer and then I would get a disk boot error when I tried to start it up. I haven’t been able to get past 2.71Ghz now with out getting the disk boot error.

Yeah if you don't have the option of locking down PCI-E then you will be limited on what you can overclock to, because as you increase you FSB it does the PCI-E as well. And once the PCI-E goes up that is where your instability comes from.

I had a mobo that couldn't lock it down either and even a mild overclock caused my SATA drive to not work correctly or not even be a boot option. You really have to be able to lock that down before you can go too far.

I have the same motherboard as you and I was wondering where I go to check to see if mine is locked and what it should be at to be locked, also I was just curious your voltages, I only changed my memory and cpu voltages but have not touched the other voltages so I am not sure if I need to up those or not. Also when I try to OC my 8800gtx it never works, I set it to a reasonable clock and whenver I open a game it restarts the computer right away and it goes back to normal clocks, I use ATI tool to oc it. I am a newb when it comes to some of the bios and stuff so any advice is greatly appreciated.

680i's autolock the pci-e, you do not need to change anything. I would think 650i's do also, but if you are saying you lose the drive at a higher overclock, it sounds like it needs to be locked.
edit: oops, but the biostar should have a pci-e option in it somewhere.
