HDD Help.

My rig seems to be running slow for what it's built upon. Everything is pretty up to snuff except my HDD. Right now I only have a 40GB standard IDE running at 5400RPM. BF2 takes forever to load and it needs a good 5 minutes after it loads the map to work all the stutters out. I'm asking this as confirmation because I'm almost certain it's my HDD. Any thoughts?

probably your hd, whats your video settings ?

try cleanning up your hd run a disk cleanup and a defrag to see if that will help

Video is maxed at 1600X1200, it takes an eternity to load at 1280X1024 as well, or 1024X768, heh.

plunge about $60 and get a 250 gig sata 3.0 drive

lower the settings (not necessarily the resolution) put it on medium or something

I don't see why it would be stuttering since you have 2gb of ram, so it is probably your hard drive. As someone said, you should defragment it.

Hard drive autodefrags once a week. I seriously think the 5400RPM thing may be a cause as well as the fact that it's like a 6 year old HDD with a bad molex recepatacle.

i'd still lower the video settings to low just to see if it makes a diff (bet it will)

Hmm...It may, but I really don't think my CPU or GPU should have an issue running BF2 on full.
