I've tried many times to fix the idle core temps on my E6600 and it still shows idle core temps of 48-50C. I've used both an ACF7 and a Zalman 9700 and they both perform exactly the same so the heatsink is not the problem. I've also tried removing the heatsink and re-applying thermal paste about four times and all in all it still shows my cpu idling at 48-50. I've also checked that the heatsink is seated properly. I've used speedfan, TAT, and coretemp and they all show the exact same thing. In the bios it also shows my cpu idling at around 45C. My case fans are working properly and there is enough airflow inside the case and ambient temps are around 30C. I just have absolutely no idea what is wrong and how my C2D can be running so hot when it used to run very cool (around 30C). Can someone please help me with this issue?
