i haven't tried lowering it....at stock 1.32 is stable for 2.4.......i'm thinking the cpu temp sensor is busted bc there is no way that an E6600 idles at 48C after reseating the heatsink 4 times

are you using TAT... when I used TAT, it read my chipset temperatures... I use Asus probe which does the job... check your temps in the bios..

if it makes you feel better, im idling at 45C, all stock (freq and voltages.) ive given up and passed my cpu for 'bad.' the thing is, you said you idled 30C before, whereas i was idling at this temp from the beginning..

let it 'cure,' but i doubt youll see any temp drops more than a couple degrees.

how're your load temps though? are they the same or did they rise as well?

the load temps for both cores seem to be around 53-54.......i know that's not bad for load temps but keep in mind that all settings are at STOCK so this is very unusual

like you said, the sensor could be broken, but its still reading the temps. thats really strange. what if you were looking at another temp reading other than your cpu temp?
