Troubleshooting for On-Board Audio Help?

I don't want to RMA my ASUS board yet, but I want to see why the audio doesn't work though. So if there are any trouble shooting methods that anyone that can give me that would be helpful. I only have one plug to plug in but it doesn't work in the slot with the green. I also tried each and every slot. The motherboard program showed me "x"'s on the pictures saying that I must have plugged something wrong, but I tried what they told me, but it still doesn't work. I played around for hours, but it still wouldn't budge a sound. I know it works, the speakers. My speakers are just 2 speakers and one woofer with it. They all connect with 1 plug.

Do you have the audio set for auto-sensing or manual. If it's manual you will have to configure your 2.1 sound through the audio control panel. If it's on auto-sensing and it doesn't work it's probably a fault with your on-board audio.

Yeah, it's on auto-sensing.
