Nvidia slashes 8800 Ultra price - Page 5

They need to shrink the R600 to 65nm to eliminate the heat problems and clock it to 1Ghz core and a good memory clock along with that (R600 can pull 1200Mhz so don't worry about having problems with that.) Then AMD would make tons of money, especially if they use GDDR4 with that 1Gb of VRAM. Would probably compeat if not beat the 8800 Ultra.

How exactly did you stumble upon this forum? You might just be the most misinformed person i've seen here. Your 6800GT's are the equivalent in DX9 as the 8800GTX's are in DX10. High-end first gen.

Yep. If we followed the logic that an overclocked GTX = an Ultra + 300$, then we would only need the E4300 processor and none of the conroes.

This is good news anyway. Now a great card and great overclocker (no, for the millionth time, its not an overclocked GTX, just an overpriced preformer.) is even cheaper. They're going for 670$ at some sites. And as the article said, this will push GTX prices down far.

Dunno why this thread is becoming such a flame war against the Ultra. We should all be drinking to this.
