DISAPPOINTING Ultra SLI 3dmark06 benches? - Page 14

Okay. You're a benchmark junkie. Then, I suggest RMA'ing that second Ultra under "Unstaticfactory" and getting a Mach II Phase Change Unit. You will see much better results. Or, get a nice 240mm Water Cooling System going on and raise your Quad Core's clock speed.

That's better advice

Or maybe he has the money to just throw in the phase change unit

I agree with Chozart. I think it's more fun building and benchmarking the system than actually playing games (most of the time). Tweaking out that slight bit of performance is the best part. Having that last little bit play hard to get is just the best feeling when you finally nail it.

I feel for this guy....he wanted the best, but it screwed him over...lol.

I wish I had more advice...but all I can say is good luck.

Sorry if I missed it as I jumped to the end here but according to the pix you posted, your memory is in the wrong slots.
Try the 2 blues.

Did my 1st serious attempt (after installing the CoolIT Freezone CPU cooler) with the QX6700@3400 + ULTRA SLI @ 669/2200 + RAM Stock 800mhz

06 16,143
05 20,515
03 64,183

01 was the only one not done with the QX6700 (my best on the Quad was 46k) this 48k was done on my e6600. The C2D's fly on 3dmark2001.
01 48,402

TOTAL: 149,243. Could be better when I OC my ram.

Stock QX6700 was really a bottleneck to the Ultra's in SLI.

Ok. That;s a good baseline.

Keep ticking up your FSB. Your cooling should b eable to handle at least 3.6GHz for 5 - 10 minute stints (but monitor temps VERY closely).

Find a way to push your mem to around 880 MHz - with some extra juice it should be stable.

From there, start ticking your vid cards up.

ANd finally, boot with XP.

You're on your way

Notice how the cpu usage fluctuates between 3 and 7% on Test 1

I have a better score than that youtuber Maxishine and mine is on air ;-)

3dmark06 benches really hard on your components.

OCd the ram to 1100mhz trying to break 17,000.

3dMark06 = 16, 772
