DISAPPOINTING Ultra SLI 3dmark06 benches? - Page 15

I think its more about finding sweetspots for the configuration of your components.

Just my opinion.

Did you OC your ram by running a larger divider or by upping your FSB?

OCing ram doesn't have a huge impact on benchmark results - most people think it does, thoguh, because often they are inadvertantly jacking up their FSB too.

Try running (just to appease me) 450 x 8, with your memory running WITHOUT a divider at 900MHZ (just be sure to keep your proc temps under control). Tighten up your memory timings as far as you can, and then keep ticking your FSB up. This should net you your highest scores as it will push your proc up past 3.6 GHZ, you will not be running any kind of memory divider (which does give noticeable performance increases - sometimes moreso than simply OCing memory), AND, you'll have a blazing fast FSB.

Someone above in this thread said your mobo is capable of 450 FSB - give it a shot.

All my C2D builds for clients have been on P5B boards, so (sorry) I don't know the max FSB of your board.

PS: And for god's sake, if you're that serious about benchmarking do it on Windows XP.

the board can handle a high enough FSB... not a problem there (ok, not as spectacular as the P5B Deluxe, but yep to 450+ MHz).

I have a CPU that tops out a little under 3.7GHz on air... otherwise, I'd probably have the highest scores with an 8800GTS (including SLI-ed!)
