DISAPPOINTING Ultra SLI 3dmark06 benches? - Page 10

Just incase you missed it, try obtaining the 165.01 beta for Vista x86.

Software is only as good as the person that codes it. FutureMark's software just needs a patch to recognise the correct amount of memory on the card. Just because 3DMark thinks that the card is 1024MB doesn't mean that it isn't 768MB.

The Asus Striker Extreme does not suffer from this issue.

So here is what I can surmise:

1) CPU @ stock 2.66 is a SEVERE BOTTLENECK, OC to 3.2+
2) current PSU is sufficient
3) current RAM is sufficient
4) more than likely drivers is the problem.

So when I get home tonight, this is my to do list:

1) Un-Install Nvidia Drivers

2) Un-Install 2nd Ultra or (B)

2) Use driver cleaner

3) Install 158.45 then shutdown

4) Remove Ultra (A), install Ultra (B)

5) Reinstall 158.45 then shutdown

6) Reinstall Ultra A now as 2nd Ultra. Attached bridge.

7) Enable SLI in Nvidia Control.

8) Bench with QX6700 @ at least 3.2 and cross fingers.

Another thought is dropping 2GB of RAM. It might just burden the memory controller a bit. Should not make a huge difference, but you never know.

9) OC proc as far as I can get it while keeping load temps ~60 - 65C (just for benchmarking)

10) OC mem as far as I can get while keeping it stable in Prime95

11) OC video card core as far as I can get it

12) OC video card memory as far as I can get it over DDR 2000 MHz.

Do you think all those other guys pulling close to 20,000 run mild Proc overclocks and no video card overclocks?

I think not.

Good luck!

Always, (excluding situations with wierd memory dividers), upping the FSB is preferable to upping the multiplier.

To get anywhere near 17k or higher you will need bare minimum on your quad 3.5ghz
SLI cards @ Minimum of 645mhz Core

Quads on 3dmark06 only beat 6600's etc by getting a chunky cpu score.
The higher overclocked cpus i.e a 6600 @3.9 causes the 8800's to fly and score high.

So you need your quad running as high as possible.

My 6600 scores better overall and the only reason my Quad beats in in the grand total is because of the large cpu test score the quad gets.

The earlier 3dmarks duo cores better.

I am contemplating putting my e6600 back in to see if my scores ARE better. The 629f I have OC'ed nicely.

Yeah. It sounds like the OP is still running at 266 system bus.

I had a P5N32-E SLI running with an E6600 @ 334 System bus w/SLIed 8800GTS's just fine.

I have heard they have problems going much higher, though.

500FSB is achieveable on them but 450 is pretty average.

EDIT: I will add to that to clarify that the 450 and 500 FSB is usually with a reduced multi i.e 8
