core temp or cpu temp?

Thread Starter
I've been trying to fix the idle temp readouts i get for my E6600 for a couple of days. Luckily I've been able to fix it by leaving everything at stock and THEN doing a bios flash. However even though it says my cpu is running at 30-35 idle my core temps are still a bit high (47C). I posted another thread and someone has told me that the cpu temp diode inside the cpu is off by 10 degrees. Is this correct? Should I worry about core temp or cpu temp?

Much help appreciated!

nir. i think you are stressing out about this way too much. if you want an example i will just tell you whats going on.

apparently your cpu temps are fine now, so i wouldnt worry about it (1). your core temps are most likely going to be higher, but thats not what you should worry about looking at, your cpu temps are what are important (2). finally, yes, there is about a 10 degree difference, i have looked this stuff up extensively so when i get an e6600, i'll know what to look for (3).

It seems to me like the problem is solved after many days of your hard work. just kick back and relax, put that thing back up to 3.2

just dont worry about it man.

yea ur right.....it's too unrealistic that both cores are idling at 47C when i replaced the ACF7 with a Zalman 9700 (even though they're both pretty much the same) and i re-seated the heatsink 5 times....goin bak to 3.2
