Problem with one of my 8600gt cards - Page 2

Run driver cleaner pro and give it another whirl.

It's a driver issue, might want to try running windows update or something, too.

People say ATi has bad drivers :V

try to put it at 8x up 8x down, and check if it works........(your board does not support 2 full 16x PciXpress slots....which could explain the error........)

sorry i havent replied too your posts for a while but iv tried everything you guys have mentioned, RUSO i dont have that option in bios too change the chipset speeds, the HT is set too x5 now all i can do about the gfx cards is either set the sli to auto/single card/dual card, iv tried it on auto and dual card but still nothing...

iv attached a picture of what it says.

iv asked and been into loads of pc stores but no body has any clues as too why it does this, i formatted the hdd and went back to XP sli works perfect, but since i needed vista to play shadowrun and halo 2 i thought id bang it back on, so a full clean install and the same again, its really starting to do my head in big time. as i type this the cpu and ram gadget states in using only 32% of my ram so im not low on that. i was going to buy some more ram but the guy at pc world said 2gb is plenty.

I was going to upgrade my CPU this weekend to a AMD x2 6400+ but theres no point if my gfx cards aint working together....im hoping you guys can help me once more to sort this out...

thanks in advance nathan

Ahh... THAT sort of 'Not enough resources.'

Try disabling every on-board peripheral you can in your BIOS. Leave only a single hard drive controller & USB host on and disable everything else. (On board sound, RAID controllers, serial/parallel ports, etc..etc...)

The long way 'round might be to reinstall XP, see which IO ports & IRQ the second card is using, then re-install Vista and see which devices are taking up those ports. It's much more likely the I/O ports as IRQ's are generally all shared anyway.

No, it's not RAM.

That error is telling you that windows is unable to find an I/O range or IRQ or something to allocate to the device. You have an old-school hardware resource conflict. No clue why it happens in Vista and not in XP though, I suppose newer drivers for some of the hardware might try to allocate some things differently.

Disabling everything might help you find what is conflicting. May be possible to manually configure THAT device to a different I/O range or something.
