Attention! Help needed! new build and recovery!

Hi all, I have been encountering my current pos and first build has been having some err... problems. I have a 2.8ghz p4 and my computer keeps shutting down because of my processor "overheating" or thats what my bios says. I havent overclocked it (mostly due to being a pos) and my intel active monitor hasnt picked anything up before it shuts down. Its begun to happen more frequently and after i cleaned out the dust under the heatsink it shuts down soon after I turn it on. any help would be appriceated.

Since this doesnt look like i will be able to fix it I think its time to ask all of the Overclock.net community for help with my new build. I was going to wait for the penryn in the spring but it looks like i might not have that choice. i have allready selected the case I want the: NZXT Zero but I would like help with the rest. i know i want atleast a core 2 duo but it would be nice to be able to upgrade to a penryn when it comes out. Thanks for any help any of you can give me I gotta go sleep now

P.s. Ill awnser any questions you have and elaborate when i have time later

you are probably overheating. IMHO, you should try to get more case cooling, and you DEFINETELY will not function without some mem. cooling. if you run ANYTHING for a long enough period of time with that little cooling, you will burn something out.

I just tried to start up the pos and it crashed after about 5 minutes of running and the hottest thing inside was my gpu fan. unless my processor's heatsink isnt transfering the excess heat I have no clue whats wrong. I will try to post pics when I get back from flying at the beach

@ Mongo: same build as chozart said with a 19" Hanns-G monitor instead, saving $380, with that extra get a QX6700 instead of E6600, doing this leaves you with $603 - 532.90 = $70.10 left, get a Logitech G5 instead of that mouse, so $5 more, $65.10 left, get a FM121 for $20 shipped, $45.10 left.
then get some Bawls!

thats looks pretty similar to what I was looking for, but like i said I have decided on the NZXT zero case as I tend to take it to friends houses and lan I wanted an aluminum case. I allready have a monitor mouse and keyboard (that monitor does look pretty sweet). also why get 32 bit vista for a 64 bit comp?? I think I will try to wait untill next spring and get a nice 45nm comp with ddr3 but unless I fix my current computer idk if thats going to happen. any help with that problem would be appreciated
