Well, higher HTT bus on the DFI boards contributes to memory stability... that could be why.

So is it effectively OC'd because the Opty165 HTT=1000?
And if so is it safe long term?

Well, what front side bus (HTT) are you running? If it's over 250 then yes, it's OCed the HTT bus.

Here's an old post of mine breaking it down:

250 FSB+ would need a 3x HTT multi

Keep the 4x multi. Seriously, it's better for the DFI boards at least. I feel that it's likely on MOST boards but cannot prove it. Running the HTT up to about 1300 or less is fine... especially on the expert. No worries about the 334 either. I dual primed at that speed 4x HTT multi with a 165 before i moved to Core2Duo

Yes I understand how it works, what I'm saying is the MY FSB is @ 312. When I set HTT multi @ 3, it will not load, but @ 4, it does, and is quite stable.

I want 334FSB, but need to set HTT multi to X3.

No you don't, leave it on 4. Keep going. The <1000 garbage is just a myth. One your board it's like <1300 (And I've been over that)

That's weird. I never had an Expert though, only the SLI-DR.
