It might, but it might not.

Make sure the specs are identical (size, cache size, spindle speed, interface - no sata 1.5Gb with SATA 3.0Gb).

It's better to get an identical drive... maybe just sell the Seagate and get a new pair.

Naw, don't sell it. Use it for backup storage. RAID can be a risk especially if you have important data. Get a SATA PCI add-in card if you have to.

if you need the extra bucks, sell it.if you dont need the extra bucks, keep the seagate as a buckup.

shook, you definately want identical drives from the same maker (250GB Seagate's capacity != 250GB Western Digital capacity, there can be a difference of up to 1GB or so! They MIGHT be the same, but that's highly unlikely) if possible.

Different drives might lead to problems, and even if there are no problems, there definately will be a performance hit VS 2 same drives.

Shook, if I were you, I would NOT use an old drive in a RAID 0 array, even if they're 100% identicle (and in this case, they're not).

Keep in mind that if 1 drive dies, you lose everything. So I would recommend having all new drives.

Even if you're not worried about a hard drive crash and say NOW that you don't care if it does.. If it comes, I gaurentee you'll still be pissed.

I don't see why they would be different, when quoting the size of the drives they must conform to the international standard for disk capacity.

Some people think that they actually lie about capacity but windows uses the binary interpretation while they use non-binary, both are exact measurements.
