Arctic-Cooling Freezer 64 Pro problem, please help~~ - Page 3

I am quite sure that I have mounted it properly (if comparing to the picture), since I did some reasearch before I buy it and I saw this picture before. I have paid attention to the red and green arrow as in the picture, I am sure mine is fitted like that.

The only thing that I am not sure with mounting is the position of the heatsink on the cpu. According to the instruction, I should mount the left clip first and then get the right clip fitted on the right hand side and finally use the arm on the right side to tighten it. But since I mount the left side first, and I need to fit the position of the red and green arrow as shown in the picture, the whole heatsink is a little bit shifted to left above the cpu. I tried to re-mount it but unfortunately found that with these mounting instructions/constraints, it is impossible for me to mount it 100% at the centre above the cpu.

To be honest, I have much expectation on this heatsink before buying since I did a lot of reasearch, most ppl give it good comments. I didn't over-estimate its power but at temp drop of 5-7C should be reasonable. However I got nothing except paying the money! Moreover, I don't expect I need to do some art work on my own after buying a product, and it is because their poor quality control... sigh...

For your information, I have sent email to Freezer support HQ and here is their reply:

"I hope that at least the noise of your system improved dramatically, but
normally Freezer will be better than any stock cooler. Please check
again the mounting and have a look aht the fan-settings within your
BIOS. I can't think of any other reason for bad temperatures beside
these two."

Their attitude further disappoints me and I am going to give it up...

I gotta say that was a fast response from AC!

They might have a point regarding your bios. There are usually some fan or temperature settings it bios that get overlooked.

***EDIT

What is your "CPU Q-Fan Profile" currently set to in bios?

My current Q-fan setting is disabled, I also tried to enable it with "Performance" profile, both giving me the maximum rpm that the Freezer 92mm fan can do (around 2300-2500 rpm)

By the way, I saw some good comments from Asetek VapoChill Micro. I am looking at:
http://www2.asetek.com/default.asp?s...ntentSection=2

Any suggestions / comments? I would like to go with the cheapest "High-end" model...

Isn't the vapochill micro kind of expensive? I've been off the heatsink market for so long

Any noticeable changes with the case door open and closed?

Tried opening the case, just getting around 2-3C temp drop.

The "High-End" version of Vapochill Micro is only $28, seems even cheaper than Freezer.

I think I have the same problems as the original poster. I've had my AC Freezer Pro 64 on since Aug 2006 (approx 20 months) and today I noticed my idle temps were 37°C while loads went up to 57°C. Not sure if this is acceptable or not or if I should be getting cooler temps. My room temp is around 22-24°C, and my case config is two 120mm fans (1 intake and one outtake). I don't think I have any Q-fan profile set (not even sure if I have that on). My main concern is the HSF might have gotten dirty over time and cleaning it with compressed air while in my case doesn't seem to do too much. I'm thinking of taking out my mobo and reseating the HSF, but will give the Freezer 64 Pro a proper cleaning. How would you guys recommend I do that?

Also I think I may have removed the MX-1 thermal compound thinking that the stuff it came with was crap, and replaced it with my own OCZ Ultra 5+. If I were to reapply this thermal compound, which method would you guys recommend?

Thanks for any help you guys can provide. P.S. I do have the fan installed in the correct direction, like this pic.
