do i need more RAM for Vista X64

Thread Starter
Hey, i reciently acquired a copy of Vist x64 business and was wondering if I would need more ram to use it. I know i can use it and it will work, but i was wondering if it'd be worth using it with only 2GB of ram. Otherwise, i'll install the X32 version. Keep in mind that unless someone on here has some G.Skill HZ DDR 500, i won't be able to upgrade to 4GB.

thanks,
AE804

I use 64x on 1gb and its usable... Im upgrading to 2gb to see how I go on, but many have said 2gb is enough, unless doing intensive video work etc... I will soon find out

If you decide to go for 4gb let us know if there is any noticable difference.

2Gig should be just fine, I wouldn't worry about getting more until you decide to upgrade the whole comp down the road.

i have 2 gb and i tried 4 gb and it runs even slower, but i think thats because my 2 sets aren't identical.

they are both ocz ddr2 800 pc6400
set 1 2x1gb: 4-5-4-15
set 2 2x1gb: 5-5-5-15

so i set timings to 5-5-5-15

and it still doens't work. if you want to upgrade to 4 gigs, make sure you get all memory sticks to be identical

Yea, and that's my problem. I won't find another person willing to give up their HZ set from the DDR 1 age. Oh well, we'll see where 2GB gets me.
