my new 3600 brisbane is at 50c idle :(

right ive just built my new pc thanks to all the help and advice i got off you guys..ive got a couple of problems tho.

first is the cpu is running at 50c idle
im using a new artic freezer 64 pro too

ive flashed the bios on the motherboard and no change, its showing the same in the bios too, everything is running as standard,i havent touched anything in the bios.

should i try the stock cooler and make sure everythings ok?

the other is that i dont think ive partioned my new 80gb sata drive right,i partitioned it on installing xp,10 and 70gb,with xp on the 10gb section, but i can only see the 10gb partition in xp and not the other 70gb,everest confirms its a 70-10 split drive too.

cheers

try reseating the hsf, what TIM(thermal interface material are you using) there is no wy your cpu should idle 50c. Make sure you're putting correct amount oif TIM, and in the corect place. Im not saying youre incapable but anyone can make mistakes, ive done it plenty of times

did you actually create a 70gb partition or leave it unpartitioned? (i did this before)
the stock cooler would be a good shout if temps are still high after a reseat, cus that basicly cant be fitted wrong.

hope this helps

i dont think i partioned it right,i just split a 10gb section when windows asked me where it wanted to be installed to,i will have to reformat it all

right, ive just ran the 3dmark03 test(15,000 on stock everything) and soon as it finished i checked my temps..50c,no change so i wonder if somethings not installed right?

is there a logging program i can use to see if the temps change when under load

i used the stock paste that came on the cooler.

i will try the stock cooler and see if that does any better

I'm going by memory here but, I don't think you have to reformat your drive. Try going start menu, right click on My Computer & pick manage & then disk managment. You might only have to assign a drive letter, or maybe format the 70 gig partition, cant remember for sure.

Isn't it the Brisbane's that have had a history of not displaying proper temps? Can anyone verify this? I'm pretty sure I've heard about this before, specifically with 3600 Brisbanes...

i was able to get reliable temps with the programs that came with my motherboard. if i use any 3rd party programs such as coretemp and speedfan.
