FPS problem with Planetside

Thread Starter
OK so I dont know if most of you know what planet side is but it is a mmo fps, about 4 years old. I like it good game anyways after I moved out to the west coast it seems that my frame rate is limited to 60fps. I can run CSS at about 190 to 310 fps with a 88ping or whatever you call it.

I have tried turning everything off as far as eye candy and set target fps to 100 and 120 and disabled it so that it should run at highest frame rate. I dont really know whats up with this thing. It doesnt matter if I play on east coast or west coast or europe server its allways 60.

Now my monitor is 60hz refresh rate so I know it doesnt gain me anything but the game seems to run far smoother at higher frame rates even if my monitor wont let me see a difference in actual frame rates.

I hope you get what I mean, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Is vsync turned off on the game in menu? It'll cap your frames to your monitor's refresh rate.

I am not sure about the rendering engine used for planetside but it is very possible that it is capped at 60 FPS so no matter what you do it will never go higher /shrug. I played that game for about a year and then a little bit not too long ago while it was free up to rank 6. Even with my current setup I can still get lag in that game so it isn't just you .

**EDIT**

Well when I use to play it with about the same ping and stuff I would get anywhere from 70fps under the most extreme conditions in heavy battle to 280 to 350 while hanging out somewhere with nothing going on so I know it can usually do far better. Thats kind of why its bugging me.
