Folding again, But need GPU info

Thread Starter
Hey , so I'm finally folding again and am running into a problem. I have installed a version for each core and one more for my X1950. Now, I also installed FahMon 2.2.0 (as it has support for the GPU) to keep track of what's going on. Now to the question.

FAH displays n/a for everything on the GPU, so i was wondering if it was working at all. Does folding@home work with the 7.5 drivers? if not, how far back in drivers do i have to go to get my GPU to fold?

Thanks,
AE804

Maybe check here http://forum.folding-community.org/ftopic20156.html. Looks like 7.2 through 7.5 should work, among other versions. Hopefully info there can get you going , I'd help you myself, but I haven't read up much on gpu folding, since I have an Nvidia.

Ya good luck! Like I said though, I know little of GPU folding, like you say maybe it's working? Let us know, if not maybe someone else around here can help you .

Hi ae804,

Are you trying to fold and GPU fold on the same rig?? If so, it might not be possible. A lot of people have tried, but found it difficult or impossible. The gpu work units require additional cpu clocks as well. Folding with 2 cores, and a gpu WU with a WU for each core will not be possible IMHO...

The gpu cores only get 330 per WU and most GPU's will complete 2 a day. However, they are very sensitive to other computer uses and programs. That's why most people have left that technology and went to SMP's with dual cores. More points and better reliability. Back when the gpu WU's first came out 660ppd was excellent compared to the 110-120ppd of the old style WU's. Today with SMP, and the ability to gain 1,000ppd average gpu folding has lost its charm....

I hope this helped, :-)
