7600 GS + Vista = Major CS:S Lag? - Page 2

I have this same problem. big time lag when entering games. I just got 2gigs of *edit=crucial 800mhz, I'm overclocking my processor to 2.5 gHz so brought my RAM speed down to 666 mhz with timings of 4:4:4:12.

Is it possible to make my timings better to make the memory better? The lag problem in CSS is horrid.

Also after about 15 minutes of play my monitor goes blank but the game keeps playing. Does this sound like a cooling problem or possibly a PSU problem?
I'm using 2x 7600gs's in SLI.

I am not so sure it's a ram problem, seems like you have a driver error or software conflict. You should not have lag like you are describing with your system.

good advice, i'll try some different drivers when i get home. i found a site called tweaksrus.com that looks pretty good for drivers.

any idea why my card is crashing though? it happened using 1 7600gs and with SLI.

It may be a problem with vista compatability, I have seen other posts with similar problems that needed a bios update because of Vista.

Try setting your RAM to 5-5-5-15 timings. It may sound stupid but it cured a lot of lagging problems for me in games.

In CoD2, it went from a constant 20fps to 90fps after loosening the timings.
