10 GHz Intel CPU

Thread Starter
Are we likely to ever see these numbers?

I hear tell of 16 and even 32 Core CPU's ?

Will they need to be this fast? Probably not!

Where does it all end?

At what point can we say, Enough?

Its like the Mach 4 Razors that I shave with first it was 2 blades then 3 then 4 then someone came out with 6 and they realized it sucked so now its 4!

Will the CPU market do the same?

I doubt we will ever see stock CPUs hit 10Ghz

you realize the numbers are going down but performance is going up

P4s Pretty much peaked the Ghz charts

Now were just adding cores

So no more GHz

We can effectively look forward to 8 and 16 core CPU's within probably the next 2-5 years to the general public is that safe to say?

The more cores, the less clock speeds. The more cores that can bu utilized is better than have a few very fast cores.

I gladly welcome the end of the clock wars. Smaller overclocks with less heat increase performance much more.

There was a good advert I saw a while ago taking the micky out of all these razors with loads of blades.

"NOW WITH 15 BLADES!!"

And they had a giant razor with 15 blades in it that was more of less the size of the guys face.

But no 10GHz won't be seen at least in the current generation. I think better architecture with more cores will be better than a higher clock.

I think that they will find new ways to make CPUs and they may in the future be like nothing we have now.Just look at cars and turks they started out with one pistion and new we have cars with 18,BUT things are changing and they are coming out with newer cars that are wwwwaaaayyy different but do more with less.I think that the cpu will go the same way.in the future 5 10 years for now cpus may not even have cores and if software advances start to pick up speed computer may not even use number such as 1 and 0 but 1234abcdef,you never know what they will think of next.
